Michael W. Paluzzi, MD, FACS, ASMBS

Dr. Paluzzi practices bariatric surgery and has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery - a minimally invasive operation that allows the patient to have the benefit of major surgery but without the discomfort of a large incision. The results of utilizing the laparoscopic approach are a shorter hospital stay and a more rapid recovery. Dr. Paluzzi enjoys the quality of life in Oconee County and has been a resident since 1998. He is a member of the medical staff at Oconee Memorial Hospital and has been active in staff leadership positions through his career. He is the founder of Palmetto Surgery Associates.
Personal interests include water sports, fishing, hunting, travel and personal fitness.

Dr. Hughes joined Dr. Paluzzi in 2003 and is subspecialty trained in vascular and thoracic surgery. His subspecialty interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery provided a sound foundation for his bariatric practice utilizing the Lap Band System.
